On 27th September 2025, more than 400 volunteers came together for the Phang Nga Coastal Clean Up Challenge 2025, the third annual beach cleaning event organized in Khao Lak. What began just three years ago as a small community action has now grown into a major coastal clean-up initiative that unites local residents, businesses, schools, government offices, and tourism operators.

This year’s event was our biggest yet, with 386 registered participants and even more joining on the day. Volunteers spread across three main beaches – Khao Lak Beach, Khuk Khak Beach, and Laem Pakarang Beach – plus an additional team from Sea Dragon Dive Centre who carried out a clean at Khao Lak Park.

In just two hours, the combined effort resulted in 1,752 kilograms of waste being removed from Khao Lak’s coastline.

Launch of the Sustainable Khao Lak Network

The 2025 clean-up was more than just a community event – it also marked the official launch of the Sustainable Khao Lak Network campaign.

Spearheaded by Discovery Travel, the campaign aims to bring together individuals, businesses, organizations, and government offices to work toward a more sustainable and regenerative future for Khao Lak. By uniting efforts, we believe this initiative will strengthen the community, protect the local environment, and further establish Khao Lak as a high-quality, responsible tourism destination.

    A Growing Movement

From its humble beginnings to now uniting hundreds of people across multiple beaches, the Phang Nga Coastal Clean Up Challenge is becoming a highlight of Khao Lak’s sustainability calendar.

With the launch of the Sustainable Khao Lak Network, we believe this is just the start of something much bigger – a movement that will strengthen our community, protect the environment, and inspire others to take action.

We look forward to building on this momentum and inviting even more people to take part in 2026.
