Speedboat charter is not cheap. But if you have the budget or a even a group of friends to share the costs with, a day out on a speedboat form Khao Lak is an amazing way to spend the day. Similan Islands
The Similan Islands National Park is one of the top 10 things to do in Khao Lak. The Similan Islands are famous for their pristine white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. It is not unusual to find turtles swimming around the Similan Islands snorkeling sites. The Mu Koh Similan National Park is once of the most popular island destinations in southern Thailand.
Surin Islands
The Surin Islands snorkeling and diving is some of the best in the world. The Surin Islands National Park is a group of 5 islands north of Khao Lak with some of the most beautiful coral reefs in Thailand. The Surin Islands are also home to an ancient community of Moken Sea Gypsies who once roamed all over the Andaman Sea. A Surin islands overnight snorkeling tour is an amazing experience.
Koh Kam Archipelago
The Koh Kam Archipelago is still relatively unknown by tourists. This group of islands is much closer to the mainland, meaning that the boat ride is almost guaranteed to be smooth. While the snorkeling around Koh Kam depends very much on the water clarity, many of the islands have beautiful deserted beaches that make the perfect get away destination.

Close to Khao Lak National Park, this reef offers amazing snorkeling without long travelling times.
Khao Na Yak Golden Beach
A perfect place to chill and stop for lunch away from the crowds. Khao Na Yak beach is part of the Hat Thai Muang National Park. National Park fees apply.
Leam Ma
This small reef on the edge of the mangroves is a great place to fish for groupers and snappers.
Horn Glang
Only visible at low tide, this sandbar is popular with local people out collecting shellfish while their kids splash and play.
