Itinerary Outline
Day 1 – Kuraburi – Mu Ko surin
- Pick up from your hotel in Khao Lak and drive north to Kuraburi Pier.
- Take a speedboat out into the Andaman Sea to the Surin Islands National Park.
- Check into your tent on Ko Surin Nuea and chill on the beach before lunch.
- Head over to the Moken village to meet your island guide and spend the afternoon snorkeling.

Day 2 – Mu Ko surin
- After breakfast in the national park restaurant, head over to the Moken village to meet with your local guide.
- Learn how the Moken people weave natural fibers to create everyday objects.
- Take a walk through the forest with your Moken guide and discover the different uses of the trees and plants that grow on the Surin Islands.
- Rest with a packed lunch back in the Moken village.
- Go out snorkeling with your Moken guide before returning to camp.

Day 3 – Mu Ko surin – Kuraburi
- Meet your local guide in the Moken village and try your hand at rowing a traditional Moken dug-out fishing boat.
- Learn how the Moken find food under the sea and have a go at Moken spear-fishing.
- Spend some more time in the village or snorkel from the beach.
- Head back to Kuraburi Pier where your transfer will be waiting to take you to your next destination.

The adventure begins when you board the speedboat from Kuraburi Pier to the stunning Surin Islands. The Surin Islands are famous worldwide for having some of the best snorkeling and diving reefs in Thailand.
From the pier it is just over an hour’s ride across the Andaman Sea until you arrive at your destination.
Once you arrive at the national park headquarters on the island of Ko Surin Nuea, there is plenty of time to check in and find you bearings before lunch.
After lunch it is time to meet your local Moken guide. The moken people live in a small bay on the island of Ko Surin Tai, just a short boat ride from the camp.
The best way to see Mu Ko surin National Park
Traditional weaving is a vital part of Moken life. Natural fibers, along with dried grasses and leaves are used to create a wide range of everyday items. From pots and baskets, to clothes and jewelry, to sails and roofing.
The villagers will demonstrate the key techniques of traditional weaving, and help you to create a masterpiece of you own.
Once you are finished, your Moken guide will take you for a walk into the forest. The Surin Islands are covered in thick tropical rainforest, that is mostly unexplored by tourists.
As you walk, your guide will point out to you some of the trees, plants and herbs the Moken collect, and explain their traditonal uses.
After a relaxing lunch break, it is time to dive in and explore the cryslat clear waters yet again. The Surin Islands are famous for having the best snorkel and dive reefs in Thailand. The shallow reefs and steep drop offs create the perfect habitat for all kinds of stunning marine life.
After another amazing day, it is time for a well earned dinner, and to once again to drift off to sleep with the sea gently lapping at the beach and the soothing sounds of the jungle at night.

The Moken are expert free divers, as much at home in the water as on land. This is your chance to explore the world famous coral reefs with the people who know them best. You will be amazed by the Moken peoples natural ability and free diving skill.
Many of the Moken people have physically adapted to survive at sea. It has been suggested that some are able to slow their metabolism to enable them to stay underwater for extended periods of time. Even that they are able to see clearly underwater with their naked eyes, and their hands and feet are broader than most people’s.
As you snorkel, your guide will help point out some of the most beautiful tropical fishes and corals. Turtles, clown fish and small reef sharks are often spotted around the shallow reefs.
After an exciting day, it is time to head back to camp for dinner and bed.
The next morning, breakfast is served in the national park restaurant. Soon it is time to head back over to the Moken village to immerse yourself still further into the nomadic lifestyle.

Your last day on the islands is no less special than the first. After a hearty breakfast it is soon time to meet your Moken guide for one last time.
Today he has prepared something extra special. For you to truly become a Moken, you must learn how to suvive at sea.
Along with their beautiful hand carved houseboats, the Moken also use small dug out rowing boats for fishing around the islands.
Your guide will teach you how to row one of these traditional rowing boats. Once you have got the hang of it, it is time to try your hand at Moken spear fishing.
Fishing around the Surin Islands is strictly forbiden to everyone except the Mokens. For this demonstration you will be hunting other targets such as chunks of banana tree in the water. The Moken hunting skills are legendary, and it takes years of prctice to become expert fishermen.
After lunch there is pleanty of time left to chill on the beach or snorkel some more before it is time to say goodbye to your Moken friends, and return to Kurabuiri Pier once more.
